Mississippi Power offers tricks to treat your bills and keep your neighborhood bright this Halloween

Mississippi Power is making sure customers know how to keep their neighborhoods bright and their homes energy efficient ahead of Halloween.

With trick-or-treaters flooding sidewalks next week, customers can make sure their neighborhood is safe and well-lit by reporting a streetlight outage. An outage can be reported on the company’s website here or by calling 1-800-ITS-DARK.

With temperatures cooling off, it’s also a great time for customers to practice these tips to manage their household’s energy:

·       Keep drafts out by sealing air leaks around windows and doors.

·       Have your HVAC unit serviced now to ensure it’s running efficiently.

·       Use LED bulbs in your home and incorporate them in all of your holiday decorations.

·       Unplug appliances not in use.

“We know that our customers will be out enjoying Halloween festivities over the next several days so it’s the perfect time to prepare your homes and neighborhood,” said Mississippi Power Spokeswoman Kaila Moran Griffith. “By reporting streetlight outages and practicing these energy tips, you’ll have a bright and efficient home all season long.”

Now in its 99th year of operations, Mississippi Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE: SO), produces safe, reliable and affordable energy for more than 192,000 customers in 23 southeast Mississippi counties. Mississippi Power was recognized by the Edison Electric Institute with an Emergency Response Award in 2023.
