Local developer, Community Vision Group, LLC is building a smart neighborhood in Meridian called the Verandas at Northwood. The neighborhood’s 25 new homes will feature Tesla solar roofs, Powerwall batteries and EV chargers as well as other cutting-edge in-home technologies to help residents understand and manage their home’s energy use.

As the technical partner, Mississippi Power will advise on all areas related to integrating smart energy technologies into the home as well as conduct a two-year research project to better understand how these technologies can improve energy efficiency and resiliency. The data collected will be used to evaluate existing guidelines and help develop new programs and services for residents across the Mississippi Power service territory.

This smart neighborhood will join the family of Southern Company’s other Smart Neighborhoods located in Alabama Power, Georgia Power and Nicor Gas service areas.
