Cindy Shaw joined Mississippi Power in 1985, after working for a Gulf Coast CPA firm for four years. She started her career with the company as an accountant in the Accounting Research area and, from 1985-1993, worked in various areas in Accounting and Finance, including budget, financial planning, financial analysis, tax, financial reporting, general ledger, and regulatory accounting.
In 1993, Shaw transferred to the Customer Services and Marketing area of the company, and from 1993-1999, she held positions including supervisor, Budget and Distribution Services, with responsibility for the budgets in the power delivery and customer services areas and for assisting electric operations management with manpower planning; technical coordinator at the Customer Care Center, with responsibility for monitoring call center performance; and assistant to the vice president of Customer Services and Marketing, with responsibility for the company's compliance program.
Shaw returned to the Finance area in 1999, and from 1999 to 2008, when she was elected Comptroller, she held various managerial positions, including manager, Budget and Business Unit Support; manager, General Accounting and Tax, and Manager, Budget and Financial Planning.
Cindy is a life-long resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Mississippi State Society of Certified Public Accountants. She holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi. Cindy is a graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast, as well as Leadership Mississippi.
She is married to Mike Shaw of Gulfport. They have one daughter, Robin, who is a teacher at Anniston Avenue Elementary in Gulfport.
